Lily Allen may blog less because of tabloid attention

Lily Allen, who has previously published emotional blog entries, has spoken out on her blog about her contempt for the British tabloid press, and at how obsessed they are with her blog.

Ironic?

Perhaps.

She writes (I’ve tidied and censored it a little):

“The thing is, i’m not going to write here so often now. This used to be one of my favourite things to do. I could come on here and vent how i feel honestly and get feedback from you guys. But the tabloid f***s have ruined it. Everything i write here gets twisted and rewritten buy a bunch of lazy f***s who haven’t got anything better to write about. And the truth is I don’t want to be in their f***ing stupid magazines and daily f*** rags. In fact I hate it, i don’t want to be a celebrity, I am a singer, I write songs, that’s it. I don’t sleep and take drugs with famous people (I have a boyfriend I’ve been with for nearly 3 years), I don’t go to film premieres. I don’t go shopping in the paparazzi hotspots, so please leave me alone. Write about something interesting, and that actually needs to be talked about.

The trouble is, as a singer, Lily is a celebrity. And a large proportion of both tabloid journalists and bloggers love both celebrities, and tantrums.

I suppose it could be an elaborate PR stunt – but somehow I don’t think so.

It may just be misguided. If Allen really doesn’t want so much attention focused on her blog, she shouldn’t really blog about it.

It tends to go with the territory.

  • She should blog anonymously if its so important to her and not just another way to sell records.
Then again I pity anyone who finds themselves the focus of tabloid and celeb mag attention. These publications are the lowest of the low in my opinion. There are more important things going on in the world than some pop starlets current feud with her mother’s new boyfriend over the colour of the wall paper in their living room.
Religion used to be the mind numbing opiate used to control and manipulate the masses into submission. Now its the obsession our media has with celebrity.

  • Trust me, its a publicity stunt. If she was so concerned about it she would blog under a false name. She’s the biggest fraud in the business and wouldn’t have got a record deal in the first place if it wasn’t for her bloody father, Keith Allen, who gets everywhere!

  • Hello webmaster…I Googled for live singer, but found your page about Allen may blog less because of tabloid attention : The Blog Herald…and have to say thanks. nice read. Tila Nguyen

  • Blogging is not the issue, twisting the words that are being blogged is the point. O.K. she’s a My space sensation, (with no help from her father) but have you heard the lies, and misquotes. The press is making her dizzy, and causing problems for her. It’s not there right to interfere.

  • It’s not a publicity stunt! Lily Allen wanted little, or nothing to do with being famous, but she found it through My Space, (nothing at all to do with her dad!) She would have been content with a project, that did well, instead, of one that received too much attention. Her comments from the beginning have been, I don’t want to be a celebrity, Celebrities are not role models, and I’ll do this as long as they keep paying me good money! She is a singer, and wants to be a singer! At best you won’t find her saying she’s sorry for anything! It won’t be a 2 hour docudrama of her crying and saying she wants all of her fans back.. (like Britney Spears) No she’ll just tell you to fuck off, But only if you deserve it, That’s not publicity!
