Twitter Follow Button Now Available, Allows For “On Page” Following

Twitter Follow Button - Small SizeTwitter on Tuesday finally revealed an on-page follow button for websites. The program works by placing a small piece of code on the owners website with the name of the account they would like to be followed. Users simply click on the “Follow” Twitter button and they are added to that users Twitter followers.

Once followed Twitter users will notice a “following @username” message, while non-followers and non-logged in users will see the “Follow” Twitter button.

Webmasters have the option to include their total follow count or leave that information blank, while users can click on the Twitter page name to find out information about an account before following it.

In the past Twitter users had to redirect users to their Twitter page and then hope they would choose to follow them, this new option should help with conversion rates, especially on websites where users tend to be more social savvy.

Installing the new follow code is simple, just visit the Twitter Follow button developer page and copy the code that is created to your website with either the “light” or “dark” theme.
