Twitter Goes Down For Everyone, Fail Whale Emerges From The Rubble

Twitter Fails

The fail whale emerged on Twitter for all users on Thursday after the website experienced technical difficulties that shut down the world’s second largest social media network.

First experienced at 11:15 a.m. ET the site was down for nearly one hour at which time no postings were captured.

Upon relaunching the website was still experiencing only limited functionality for some users while others still could not access or log into their accounts.

After the issue was discovered a spokesperson said:

“We’re aware of the issue and are looking into it. We will let you know when we have an update, and keep an eye on status.twitter.com for updates as well.”

On its blog Twitter posted the following message:

“Users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue.”
