How to Find Blogs to Pitch Guest Posts

Guest blogging can be a great way to grow your credibility and online presence (as well as giving links back to your website). Many potential clients and new acquaintances have connected with me through social media or my website after seeing a guest post I’ve written.  Besides connecting with readers that have read posts, it is also worthwhile to build strong relationships with the blog owners themselves.

By knowing several different bloggers that are in your industry, you can open yourself up to a variety of different possibilities– possible content for your own blog, sponsorship, partnerships, and more.

Finding Guest Posts

In order to find industry-specific guest posts, there are a string of search phrases you can use to find blogs. These include:

  • write for us + [industry keyword]
  • guest blogging + [industry keyword]
  • guest bloggers + [industry keyword]
  • contribute + [industry keyword]
  • guest post + [industry keyword]

These searches and related variations will help you find several different blogs that you can pitch to.

Guest Blogging Websites

There are a few guest blogging communities where you can also look for posts. Some of these include MyBlogGuest, Hullabaloo, and a few others mentioned in this post. You can post your blog profile and say that you are looking for blogs, or you can connect with others looking for blog posts via message boards and forums.

Pitch Organization and Implementation

When examining each blog to see if it would be a good fit for your content, be sure to check out relevancy and how often posts are published, the type of content that is already being published, and the overall quality of all posts on the site. For instance, if the majority of posts are not unique or informative and helpful to potential readers, than it is probably not worth your time to pitch to them.

Ads Testing

Start creating a Google Drive spreadsheet (or Excel spreadsheet) of all the blogs you’d like to pitch to. Keep track of the blog title, URL, submission info, and date pitched/submitted. When pitching, be sure to follow the blog’s guidelines for guest blogging. For instance, some blogs want the entire post to be submitted to them upfront. However, there are others that just want you to pitch them a few ideas or potential titles before they approve a post.

No matter how you come across guest blog post opportunities, be sure to choose both as a relationship-building opportunity. You have so much more to gain besides a link!
