Google experimenting with RSS reading functions in GMail

April 15, 2005 | By Abe Olandres | Filed Under News

Evan Williams, the guru behind Blogger (taken over by Google in 2004) reports that Google is experimenting with RSS feed technology in GMail. The net result could potentially be a major threat to blogosphere favourite Bloglines, now owned by Google competitor Ask Jeeves, in the RSS reader market.

At this stage the entire process seems to involve RSS headlines at the top of GMail mixed in with Adsense adds. None the less it’s interesting to note that Google can see a market in feed readers. Another notch in the “Google for everything” belt.
