NewsCorp buys SixApart for $1.2 billion

Yes I made this headline up, just like the folks at CoolTechZone made up a story that Microsoft had purchased Opera a couple of days after someone else suggested it would be a good idea. Surely this will go down as the biggest and best link whoring scam of 2005. Slashdot, ZDNet, Memeorandum, all your favorite tech bloggers…..so many links in such a small space of time. Brilliant, and yet evil all at the same time.

I even bought it. So I linked to um saying Microshaft bought Opera for 1 Billion Dollars. It smelled fishy but why not have fun with it.

it was too much of a coincidence for me given someone else had suggested in was a good idea only a couple of days before hand. I just cant get over how many people fell for it.

My New Year’s resolution is to take all the trillions I’ve made in contextual advertising as a professional blogger and blog network media mogul and buy Microsoft. No, Yahoo. No, AwfOL. No, Jackofallblogs!! Heh heh.
