It works about 25-33% percent of the time, and yes you can create 5000 wordpresses, blogspots, and typepad accounts just to increase your rati rankings but would I do that?

I wouldn’t create additional sites to game technorati. That sounds like splogging to me.
Getting credit for all inbound links isn’t ‘gaming’ as much as it’s simply working harder than the average blog to get credit for what you’ve earned.
