Google’s AdWords Team has launched video ads for their AdSense content network. The ads have been in beta for some time and will be moving into production shortly across the network.

Fortunately for the end user, the ads will show only a static image until the user initiates the video by clicking ‘Play’. This should keep your browsing experience at least somewhat annoyance free.
