Number 10 Downing Street now using Twitter for communications

Filed as News on April 18, 2008 8:34 am

Gordon Brown’s labor government is experimenting with new ways to communicate to British subjects, according to this piece in The Guardian.

Since hiring Mark Flanagan, the former head of LBC radio, into the government as Head of Digital Communications, many new methods appears to be in the works for digital communications. One of the first has been the utilization of Twitter by Number 10 Downing Street as a method of communication.

Tweets can be seen at their Twitter page – which shows that they are using web 2.0 tools like Twhirl and Twitterfeed in order to power their Twitter usage.

They’re even asking for feedback after the Guardian article’s publications – their most recent tweet as of this writing:

Great to see some new people following 10 Downing Tweet! As ever, we’d love to have your suggestions, criticisms and witticisms…

    Hi

I should like Gordon Broiwn to know that the 10 pence tax issue stands for many more irritations with this government. As a life long socialist I lost patience years ago, having never been a fan of Tony Blair. Going to WAR was the big mistake, Brown has been handed a poision chalice which he helped to fill. He can never make it come good.
He need not waste his energy or our time trying to do so. Give us a break. Give us an election.
