Doctors Without Borders is a non-profit organization that provides life-saving medical services around the world. Unfortunately, they face many difficulties during their overseas missions, such as rising medical costs and lack of existing treatment options. As the organization looks to raise funds to continue saving lives, Doctors Without Borders has teamed up with several music companies and streaming services.
#PlaylistsForLife is an awareness campaign that helps spread the word about Doctors With out Borders with the use of Universal Music, Spotify and Y&R Prague. Users can visit the #PlaylistsForLife website or the participating music sites and choose a genre of music. Each genre has a complete playlist of popular songs. The titles of the songs display an important message. Take for instance this pop playlist:
“Hello everyone. I want you to know something. These days children close to you don’t receive care. So please turn up the music if you and I unite. We are strong enough to give hope to the world,” reads the playlist.
When the song titles are read one after the other, it displays an urging message about the need for Doctors Without Borders’ services. Each playlist displays a unique and urgent message. With the popularity of these types of music services, Doctors Without Borders believe the best way to raise awareness is to harness the power of music.
With some of the world’s most popular artists, such as Daft Punk, Kanye West, U2 and Beyonce, users can change the world while doing something they love. While listening to these playlists, users are also given the opportunity make monetary donations to the organization.
This unique social media awareness campaign was created by the Czech branch of Doctors Without Borders and creative agency, Y&R Prague.
