FeedBurner Shows New Affection Towards BlogSpot Feeds

Shortly after being acquired by Google (not to mention releasing several premium features for free), the FeedBurner team is at it again, this time positioning itself as the “de facto” stat feed king for blog*spot weblogs.
FeedBurner is now allowing Blogger users to know whether or not users are reading their site on Blogger’s native feed site by creating a simple redirect that may make some WordPress.com users jealous.
(Burning Questions) If you host your content on a Blogger blog with a blogspot.com address (or use Blogger’s “custom domain” feature), you can now redirect your native Blogger feed to your FeedBurner feed (quite easily, might we add). Gone are the muggy, languorous days of wrestling with “autodiscovery” tags in foreboding corners of your Blogger template code or hacking through this tangled discussion thread for a glimpse of configuration clarity. Starting right now, you just log into your Blogger account, select Settings | Site Feed, enter your FeedBurner feed address and click “Save Settings.” Zap! Pow! Kraaakkkk! Now you’ve got the complete picture of how your content is being consumed out here, out there, out everywhere.

With FeedBurner now officially apart of the Google family, one probably wonders why Blogger simply will not make blog*spot feed links automatically point towards FeedBurner. Google may be giving users the option of choice for the very same reason they decided not to add Google Analytics to Blogger: they don’t want to appear as big brother.
Although there is still no word on whether the FeedBurner team will make this feature available for Wordpress.com users (as they retired feed stats last month) it would be great if they made this user friendly feature universal across various blog platforms.

Twitter Outage Used to do Upgrades, New Design Being Tested

Pownce App Updates

Microblogging service Pownce have updated their Pownce Desktop app to 2.0, which means you’ll get embedded media, notification alerts, friend management, and more. Pownce Desktop 2.0 is in alpha, and free to download.
The Pownce developers have also made an iPhone and iPod touch version available from the iTunes App store. Free, of course.

Hey Thilak.
That WordPress plugin you are referring to addresses WordPress.org (self hosted blogs) and not WordPress.com (which are hosted on WordPresses servers).
As far as Blogger is concerned, it doesn’t matter if you have Google host your blog or WordPress, the FeedBurner hack will work for you.
If someone else knows of a way to make this work for WordPress.com blogs, let me know by posting here (so I can add it to the article).
Full version WordPress blogs can use one or more of the Feedburner-related WordPress Plugins or manually redirect their feeds to FeedBurner.
WordPress.com blogs do not have a Feedburner “option” as part of the WordPress.com features, but they can add a Feedburner feed link and/or counter to their WordPress.com blogs as I have done and many others in the blogroll. It means they have two options for their readers, built-in or Feedburner.
WordPress.com had a lot of trouble with the beta testing of the Feed statistics, as was my understanding, and until they can improve it, they’ve removed it.
Google’s iGoogle and Google Reader stats are reported within the WordPress.com blog statistics as referrers. It’s not an accurate count but does provide some feed information if the blogger really wants it.
As a Blogger user, I’m pleased about the Blogger-friendly turn Feedburner has taken recently, and also the extension of premium Feedburner services to free accounts.
