Understanding Digital Marketing is a new UK-friendly book aimed at explaining to companies how to harness the Internet to grow their business.

Written by technology journalist Calvin Jones and online expert Damian Ryan, it provides practical step-by-step guidance on the topics like selecting a domain name, search engine optimisation, affiliate marketing, online PR, social networking, email marketing and blogging.

Announcing the book, the press release offers up some “golden rules” of digital marketing. These include respecting your audience, having a website, offering value, avoiding hype, pre-launch testing, keeping on top of trends, harnessing the power of search, mastering keywords and using paid search results.

Available now priced £19.99 ($26).

    Hi all,

Thanks for the post about the book, and the comments — just picked them up now via Google :-).

Always great to get feedback from readers — helps us to gauge where we got things right, and what we need to work harder on. There’s a follow up book featuring “best of” digital marketing case studies planned for next year — keep an eye on understandingdigital.com (currently being revamped) and follow UDigital on Twitter for more details.

    Calvin!

    Hi Heri,

You can buy it direct from the publisher Kogan Page (http://url.ie/24bf), or from Amazon (http://url.ie/mbh) or from other online and bricks-and-mortar bookstores like Waterstones, Barnes & Noble and others.

The first print run has sold out, and Kogan Page are awaiting another batch of books, which should be with them soon.
