Farmville Now Available At Your Local Supermarket

Farmville - Real World Farmville CashThere’s no denying the social reach of FarmVille, the game made popular by 65 million Facebook users, what may surprise some users to learn is that FarmVille has begun invading the real world.

The social network game has begun offering Farmville Cash on select produce throughout 4,000 supermarkets and retail locations nationwide.

On select produce shoppers will find “farm cash”, specifically 5 free farm bucks, that money can then be taken and used for virtual goods throughout the online game.

So how big is the promotion? Over the next six-week test period 100,000 dollars in virtual Farm cash are expected to be redeemed and those numbers come from just 25 Green Giant produce items. If the program is a success it may extend well beyond Target Fresh Grocery and SuperTarget stores where the program first begins.

If you have to have your produce and want to cash in on the FarmVille currency you can find participating stores here.

I’ll be interested to see if they can somehow market their other games such as FrontierVille in the same way.

Here’s what you should be looking for:

What do you think? Will you be willing to pay a premium for Green Giant produce (It’s more expensive in my area), just to get 5 FarmVille bucks?

I seriously cannot describe how awesome this article is! I am a Farmville fan, but seriously Green Giant! This is totally thinking outside of the box to market yourself! Wow! Amazing! The power of planting virtually enters the real world with some organic splash! Woot-Woot!
