Bloggers claim CNN scalp
CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan quit Friday amidst a furore over remarks he made at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland last month in which he claimed the US Army was targeting and killing journalists in Iraq.
The story first broke with a blog post at Forumblog, and was reported widely in the blogosphere for days until eventually being picked up by traditional media outlets.
AP reports Jordan said he was quitting to avoid CNN being “unfairly tarnished” by the controversy.
Strangely, the wire from AP, the most widely utilised source of the story amongst old media companies, totally ignores the role bloggers have played in the scandal.
Reuters only briefly mentions the role of blogs.
The NY Post however mentions blogs and Rony Abovitz, who made the post at Forumblog.
