I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when “proper” journalists bemoan the “scary” slander-and-gossip-mongering power of weblogs.
And the press is supposed to be superior in this respect?
I can think of one great advantage weblogs have over print media: instant corrections. In digital media, you can adjust and check sources over and over… while in a newspaper, the error stays in print. (And you can always hide away the corrections on the Obituaries page.)
Let’s state the obvious: print journalists are scared of blogs. Hence their attempt to paint blogs as “scary”. ‘Nuff said.
