Facebook Girl Accidentally Invites 20,000+ People To Party
Well doesn’t that suck. 14 year old Rebecca Javeleau meant to invite her closest friends to her party, but instead she ended up inviting over 20,000 people, many of whom RSPV’d for the event.
According to Tracey Livesey, the girls mother, the event, set for October 7th has been cancelled and police are stepping up patrol in the girls Harpenden neighborhood for fear that thousands of partygoers may crash the area.
According to Rebecca, she meant to only invite 15 friends of her Facebook friends for her 15th birthday, but instead ended up with 21,000 invites.
Her mother acted like a four year old child when she realized what had happened, preaching to the Telegraph.co.uk:
“Her party is cancelled and she will be lucky to get a birthday card from me after this. I said she could have 15 friends along to the party but my sister-in-law said that 8,000 people had said on Facebook that they were coming.
“She did not realise that she was creating a public event and should have done. She is going to have to change her mobile phone SIM card because of the number of calls she has been getting about it.

“They [Facebook] should make it obvious that an event that is created is not just going out to your friends but everyone else on the site. When this happened Facebook should have realised that thousands of people going to a 14-year-old’s party is not right and shut the group down automatically.”“The police have contacted Facebook but we have had no contact from them, which is a bit disappointing. There should be guidelines and the privacy settings should be changed.”
In the meantime, her mother acted quite ignorant by airing her daughters punishment for the world to see, perhaps she likes the attention more than she’s letting on.
