Google in talks to buy YouTube
The New York Times reports that Google in “serious” talks to buy YouTube:
A deal would end an almost yearlong chess game among the nation’€™s media and technology moguls to take over YouTube, which allows users to share home movies, amateur spoofs and snippets of the best parts of television shows. Though it is not yet profitable, the site has exploded into a cultural phenomenon less than a year after its debut, broadcasting more than 100 million video clips a day.
From a search & content perspective, this deal makes sense for Google. As the owner of deep content sites like the former DejaNews, Google would add YouTube’s video content & metadata into its existing datafarms.. could make for an interesting mix.

I think Google is too clever to buy Youtube for the overblown 1.6 Billion, because
they already have a very user friendly video sharing service. Two of them would be too much, I think.
Thank you for sharing this stroy with me !
All this rumors started from Techcrunch’s post last day. And then whole net world started to make it a B-I-G. Did you notice that none of those posts named any source(s). In addition even Washington post said about a unnamed source, Techcrunch is that source i figured.
Google have capabilities to buy You Tube, but considering the situation of Google’s copyright issue with its rivals, it will be highly unlikely that Google will go into a major business deal. And also Google have a fall in its stock price this week.
Unless someone verify and give some existing source (not unnamed), i am not into trusting it.
