Google has recently introduced two new AI-powered tools that have been making waves in the tech industry. Bard, Google’s large language model (LLM) product, has received a massive update, while NotebookLM, an AI-powered note-taking service, has finally been made available to the public. These innovations are part of Google’s continuous effort to improve the user experience and offer new and exciting ways for people to interact with technology.

Bard is a language model designed to help users generate text that is coherent, informative, and engaging. The latest update to Bard allows users to upload images and have Bard analyze them. This feature is a game-changer as it enables users to extract information from images and use it to generate text.

Moreover, Bard is now available in “most of the globe” and supports user prompts in over 40 languages. Its responses can be delivered in 40 languages, which is especially helpful for developing pronunciation.

Additionally, Google has included five new responses that customers may choose from when deciding what kind of reply Bard should give them: simple, long, short, professional, or casual. For now, these modes are only available in English, but Google promises that more languages will be added soon.

The new capabilities also enable users to shift Python code over to Replit and Google Colab, share responses through shareable links, save and rename conversations with Bard, add photos to their prompts thanks to the integration of Google Lens, and more. This function is especially helpful because it allows you to bookmark specific Bard chat responses in the interface window for later use (instead of having to scroll all the way up or down to see them).

In order to fulfil a promise made during I/O, Bard has finally been updated to work with Google Lens, the company’s image recognition software, enabling users to include photos in their prompts. Bard may help by analysing the uploaded image and adding further details or a caption if needed.

NotebookLM is an AI-powered note-taking service that Google known as “Project Tailwind” at the I/O conference. It’s a more fitting name for the goal of this service: reinventing the practice of taking notes.

The small NotebookLM team believes that by automatically analysing and discovering connections among numerous disjointed notes and documents and summarising these in a concise, easy-to-read guide, note-taking can be enhanced from the conventional scribblings on paper or typing in the Apple Notes app. Even further, NotebookLM can assist users in the creation of new material and conversely respond to user inquiries about their notes and documents.

Based on the documents the user chooses, NotebookLM produces a “virtual research assistant” that is “grounded” or tailored to the user. These documents are examined by NotebookLM, which then compiles a unique manual and displays it to the user. After then, the user can ask the service in a text-to-text prompting field a la Bard for further details about any specific topic or for original ideas based on the underlying material.

Bard and NotebookLM are both powerful tools that can help users save time and enhance productivity. Bard’s ability to analyze images and understand them in context will be particularly valuable for users who need to extract information from visual data.

NotebookLM’s AI capabilities will revolutionize the way users take notes, making it easier to organize and understand large amounts of data. This tool will be particularly useful for students, academics, and professionals who need to synthesize vast amounts of information quickly and accurately.

Bard and NotebookLM will also benefit language learners as they can help users learn new languages, practice pronunciation, and improve their writing skills.
