Is Scoble leaving Microsoft?
Sillicon Valley Reporter is carrying a story that Robert Scoble is leaving Microsoft for Podtech.net – the podcasting network.
Andy Plesser from Plesser Holland and the videoblog Beet.tv just called and told me Robert Scoble is leaving Microsoft and will join Podtech.net, the podcasting network. He will be moving from Seattle to Silicon Valley.
There’s no confirmation on this from Scoble yet.
Update: 11:20pm CST. This appears to be the real deal. Even Chris Pirillo says it’s real. Looks like Scoble is joining Podtech.net as a Videoblogger. We’re pinging some sources. Much discussion about this over at Techmeme.
Update: 12:49am CST. Michael Arrington at TechCrunch posts that Scoble will be posting shortly with the official word.
Update: 6:47am CST. Scoble posts a few details without confirming where he’s headed or why. It’s quite a spirited defense of Microsoft.
Update: Podtech makes it official:
PodTech will be putting out a formal press release on Monday morning. In the meantime if your in SF Sunday stop by vloggercon for the in person update with Robert Scoble and John Furrier.

Wow, I think it was Scoble who really transformed Microsoft and gave it a decent public image. MS will really miss him. Reading his post, I wonder why he quit MS, hm…
You could see this coming for the last month or two. As to why he is leaving Microsoft, I’m not convinced there is anything here other than one person’s desire to simply move on to something new.
There may be a lot of mystery about Microsoft, but Robert is quite open about his experiences and perceptions there.
I’ve posted about this myself today from my perspective.
