Fifteen to 20 students at East Grand Rapids High School have been given a 2 week suspensions by the school after parents reported seeing Internet photos of them drinking alcohol at parties on their MySpace blogs.
Principal Patrick Cwayna said the school has started giving the students two-week suspensions from sports, a Valentine’s Day dance and other extracurricular activities.
Some parents are appealing the suspensions, and students are also fighting back with juniors and seniors rumored to be planning a boycott of the schools Valentine’s Day Dance for what they see as a breach of their privacy, with one student stating: “It’s very ridiculous. I don’t think it’s their place to look through those [blogs]”.
Well they shouldn’t have a myspace account if they don’t want anyone reading it then.
So the school suspends them for underage drinking when it should have been the parents punishing the kids for behavior that’s immoral and illegal. The parents then are mad their kids are suspended because they won’t get to do the fun stuff.
My head hurts….
Invasion of privacy??? Ha ha ha ha. They may have well just sent polaroids of their big night directly to the school.
