PollDaddy Now Offering Rating Widgets
I logged into my PollDaddy account this morning and was pleasantly surprised when I found a new feature waiting for me: rating widgets.
The free tool is currently in early beta, but it gives blog owners the ability to add “rate this post” functionality with minimal work. The sweetest part is that you can use your own images, meaning that whatever widget you create, can match the look and feel of your site.
There are two widget options:
– Star rating. Gives the reader a scale of 1-5 to rate your content. It will also display the number of votes received.
– Nero rating. Gives just 2 options to the reader and would be used like a simple positive/negative scale. For example, thumbs-up or thumbs-down.
Just add a snippet of code to WordPress or your blog platform and you’re in business.

Those of you who have installed the polldaddy rating know that it’d nice to display the top rated posts of your blog.
Polldaddy introduced the top rated functionality which means that you can display a list of the top rated posts on the sidebar. When at first I saw this I said wow this is really great but then to learn that this is only supported on wordpress blogs.
So I couldn’t resist not trying to develop a version of the polldaddy’s top rated widget that could be easily customized and added to any site.
I wanted to share it with those of you who have the polldaddy rating on their site.

I hope that you find the widget useful!
Unfortunately Widgetbox.com has closed and the polldaddy-top-rating widget with it. As I can’t live without the top rated widget, I’ve created an online free configurator for creating a polldaddy top rated widget generating code that can be simply embedded into any web site. You can find the configurator on roomywidgets.com.
