San Francisco trying to regulate Blogging

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has announced that it will soon be voting on amending (pdf) the San Francisco Campaign and Government Conduct Code to include electronic communications that would potentially require local bloggers to register with the city Ethics Commission and report all blog-related costs that exceed $1,000 in total.

The vote is to be taken on Tuesday, April 5.

Even more bizarrely, San Francisco based Blogs that mention candidates for local office that receive more than 500 hits may be forced to pay a registration fee and will be subject to website traffic audits.
