Splashpress Media Acquires 9rules
Paul Scrivens announced today at the 9rules blog that Tyme White, Mike Rundle and himself, AKA The Triad, have sold 9rules to Splashpress Media, who also run The Blog Herald.
According to the about page 9rules is a collection of blogs, showcasing the best content of the Independent web. 9rules was created in 2003, around 9 rules:
- Love what you do.
- Never stop learning.
- Form works with function.
- Simple is beautiful.
- Work hard, play hard.
- You get what you pay for.
- When you talk, we listen.
- Must constantly improve.
- Respect your inspiration.
You can read why The Triad decided to sell over at the 9rules blog. The Splashpress Media team looks forward to contribute to and work with the 9rules community.
Splashpress Media wishes @tyme, @mike9r and @scrivs the best and all luck with their next ventures.
Last but not least, if you want to send @scrivs the bottle of alcohol he invites you to in the last paragraph, but don’t want to create additional import fees because you’re UK based… feel free to send me that bottle. ;)

Good Luck with 9rules.
I had to sit down to read this. I’m in shock it’s like a full circle whirlwind apocalypse. I think the internet just died.
SplashPress or myself or both of us has literally owned every site Scrivs has ever thought of creating, or created. Ok not really but it seems like we are all related now. Seriously the blogosphere is like the Appalachian Hills.
Glad I quit blogging a long arse timing ago and have gone on to sitting on a mole hill staring at stars.
It is a bizarre thing – both the match between SP and 9R (a real ‘odd couple) but also the lack of buzz about this story considering everything any blog network did used to cause massive news. I still remember the days when any 9rules or b5media development would be blogged about on many blogs – yet this news gets blogged about on a couple of Splashpress blogs and 9rules blog (which oddly isn’t allowing comments).
The world has changed :-)
Maybe now that it’s dead somebody’ll do something with it. Good luck to splash on this one.
Darren, maybe it’s because no one cares about blog networks anymore, at least not the same way we did back then.
The internet, especially the blogging scene has grown lots and almost has become too big to focus on just two players. Especially because the foot in mouth mentality seems to have disappeared. Have we grown up?
I think it’s more likely it’s because nobody cares about 9rules anymore. All of b5’s, gawker’s, sugar’s moves still get covered. As do shiny’s, for that matter, and they’re just in the UK.
I mean, there’s really no such thing as a “blog network” anymore, that matters, cause all of the big players have moved onto different models.
And likewise this would have generated around 1000 comments in the old days too. Looks like 9rules has died and its ghost was sold to SplashPress
I think it’s nice to see all of you commenting here at BH. Nostalgia!
Where are Duncan, Matt and Martin now? Not to forget Scrivs and Mike!
