“Best of Brit” blog awards launching this week

Another week, another set of blogging awards. The UK-centric “Best of Brit” bloggers awards begin taking nominations on Thursday, organised by Ask.com and the Metro newspaper.

Nominations will be accepted until March 22nd, with the winners being announced on April 22nd. A panel of celebrity (for the UK, anyway) judges will make the final decision, based on the public nominations. They include Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, and Five’s Jason Bradbury, who presents a number of tech-related shows and has his own blog (good start).

Myles Runham, Ask.com general manager for Europe, said: “2006 was a landmark year in the development of blogging in the UK and with so much interest in this area, we thought it was time that someone recognised the best British blogs.”

Was 2006 really a landmark year for UK blogging? I’m not convinced, but then I’m impatient for more.
