Google Love: GrandCentral Teams Up With Blogger (Voicemail Now Included)

February 24, 2008 by Darnell Clayton

GrandCentral, a company Google acquired many moons ago has teamed up with Blogger in order to give BlogSpot users the option of posting vocals of their friends (or even themselves) online.

(Blogger Buzz) With GrandCentral, a free service from Google, you can receive phone calls and post voicemails right on your blog. […]

When you add GrandCentral’s WebCall button to your blog, your readers can easily call your phone or leave voicemails without ever seeing your telephone number. […]

Your voicemail is all kept in a visual online inbox that is easy to manage. Store as many as you like for as long as you like, or post them to your blog so anyone can hear them.

For the unfamiliar, GrandCentral is like a voicemail box “email style,” that allows users to call friends, forward incoming calls to multiple numbers and mark annoying calls as spam (which humorously tells telemarketers that “this number has been disconnected”).

Despite the fact that its still in an “invite only” beta, Google is opening up this feature towards blogger users, although WordPress (as well as Six Apart) fans should be able to join in the fun by clicking here.

In the future hopefully Google will consider allowing users to post their thoughts via a phone call (like they use to with Audio Blogger before the site went kaputt), although giving readers another way to contact their blog authors anonymously is a great way to help bloggers build upon their current audience.
